A brief History of WMF Mannequin & Mannequin Display Products
WMFMANNEQUIN is a mannequin and accessory distribution company located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. We offer a wide variety of display mannequins and accessories in order to best meet the needs of our growing customer base. From stylish designer mannequins to those best suited for practicality, our goal is to meet your needs, whatever they may be.
As the sole distributors of the Italian manufacturer Manssini Paputto, WMF Mannequins prides itself in offering high quality mannequins to our valued customers.
Manssini Paputto and Bitton Jacques are masters in creating an aesthetic force in these inanimate beings. Constantly focusing on beauty and realism, these specialists are artists in their own right. They create detailed sketches inspired from everyday experiences before creating new mannequins. Once the sketches are completed, a certain kind of clay is carved, leaving a mould into which the polystirol is injected. Each of our mannequins is designed for success.
A complete mannequin can get very heavy and hard to manoeuvre. In order to simplify the transportation, we receive our mannequins in pieces and then we assemble the parts on site. This practical solution decreases the chance of the mannequins becoming damaged and can decrease the cost of transportation and replacement. It also allows us to customize our mannequins to express the needs of our customers. For example, should one of our customers have a mannequin with a damaged arm, we can simply sell them another arm rather than replace the entire mannequin.
At WMF Mannequin, our goal is to provide the best customer service possible on a long term basis. We encourage our customers to return to us for all of their mannequin needs. We are proud to say that we build solid, working relationships with all of our customers.

Mannequins have been through a lot over the years. They have not always been the stylish and trendy, silent fashion-setters we see in retail store windows, but were once inanimate models for Kings and Queens in the Middle-Ages used to avoid the embarrassment of dress-makers seeing their royals in the nude. During the nineteen-eighties, mannequins would follow the style of the decade and would sport not only eighties fashion, but makeup and hairstyles as well.
The word mannequin is from the French translation of the Dutch word “manneken,” which means “little man”. Their ultimate goal has always been to represent humans in order to serve a variety of functions. Mannequins in today’s society are either realistic in style, embodying the women and men of today’s society, or are more interpretative such as those that are faceless and almost shapeless.
Mannequins can be made from a variety of materials, including plastics, Styrofoam, clays and more. Inflatable mannequins have recently become a popular substitute for their more expensive counterparts as they can be more portable and easy-to-use. Most businesses, however, stick to the more traditional mannequins that embody the essence of the everyday human being.
Recently, a rise in more realistic mannequins expressing the changes in body-types and lifestyles has been surfacing around North America. These big-chested and highly muscled set of fake humans have been raising a lot of voices in the retail marketplace. As more and more people have been augmenting their body types to suit their lifestyle, the mannequins have been reflecting this change in societal behaviour.
